AMEX TOUR REPORT
Event date: 15 July 2024
A 15-strong group of OGs and their guests assembled at the Amex Stadium, home of Brighton and Hove Albion FC. One of our members, Don Seabright, who is an authorised guide at the Stadium, showed us to every part of the Stadium revealing fascinating facts as he went. We were not allowed on the pitch of course, but it was interesting to see artificial light being used to aid grass growth.
The extensive range of hospitality areas was impressive, ranging from bars for a pie and a pint to more exclusive restaurants with a resident chef. There was a considerable difference between Home and Away dressing rooms. The Away team were accorded the minimum laid down by the Premier League, which was of course considerably better than the Hampden Park changing rooms that we all remember. However, the Home dressing room was the height of luxury, including heated pegs to warm the players boots!
The history of the Club was very interesting- their exit from the Goldstone Ground, followed by two temporary homes prior to construction of the new Amex stadium. The Club is the only one to have made a profit in the Premier League in the current year.
Thanks to Don for a fascinating tour.
