Because of Covid restrictions, it was not possible to hold the 2021 Spring Golf Competition in the normal manner as the Club House was out of bounds. Undeterred, Don Seabright arranged an unofficial competition and10 local Old Grammarians took part in a very enjoyable golf day at the Royal Eastbourne on Friday, May 7th.

It was decided to hold a team competition with the best individual Stableford score counting on the first 6 holes, the best two on the next 6 and the best three on the last 6. The team of Mark Rayner, Sammy Powell, Rich Platt and Greg Spink won with a total of 75 points, second were Dave Lockyer, Wally Manton and Don Seabright with with 63 points narrowly beating Paul Gillham, Keith Dyte and Adrian Wood with 62. The greens were in excellent condition and a credit to the Club.

Afterwards, the majority of players retired to Rich Platt’s garden to enjoy some sausage rolls, pigs in blankets and chips, all washed down with Harveys bitter. Thanks to Rich for hosting.
